We love the new SRAM XO carbon cranks - just not the chainring sizes that were offered. And because the stock SRAM rings were 120mm BCD, you couldn't run anything smaller than a 26/39T.
So we made up this spider to be mounted onto the XO cranks.
Its 104mm BCD spider designed to run 9 spd rings with the 10 spd front derailleur. Since the tooth thickness is the same on 9 spd & 10 spd rings we adjusted the distance between the two rings and Voila! You can now run a 22/32T, 24/34T, 24/36T...... and that's not all! You can now run a guide ring on the outside just like you used...

Yesterday I took the opportunity to test ride a new Chromag Surface. I've ridden a few 29ers before, but not a 29 hardtail on my local trails. This bike did not disappoint. It climbed well, descended smoother than a 26", and felt surprisingly not-that-big. I did notice a higher centre of gravity that made it a little wobbly in tight corners but it's nimbleness in the same corners left my head scratching. Strange? I figure I'd get used to it pretty quick.
Now I wanna try a 650B bike!
